Family & EducationMy name is Jennifer Sandlin. Traveling with my husband and three wonderful teenage girls is one of my favorite hobbies. Spending time with my family makes me a better person and raising my girls has made me a better educator.
I graduated from Lamar University in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, and I am currently attending Lamar University to obtain my masters in Digital Learning and Leading. CareerIn 1996, I began my teaching career at the high school level. Five years later, in 2001, I accepted a middle school position and have been there since. One of my responsibilities has been being part of the curriculum writing team where a cohort of teachers collaborate to write a math curriculum which is vertically and horizontally aligned throughout the district. Currently, my roles include middle school math instructional coach, teaching 7th grade math, and math department lead teacher.
Obtaining my masters in Digital Learning and Leading will allow me to contribute to the work the technology department has done to incorporate meaningful technology and deeper learning into all math classrooms. |

Learning ManifestoAfter more than two decades of teaching, much has changed. Remembering why I chose this career and why I have stayed is important. Making a positive difference in my students lives is the most important reason. Being in middle school, many of the students walking through my door don't know what they want to do or they may think they know, but will change their minds several times along the way. It is my job to make sure they are prepared for the quickly changing future they are headed into.
