Action Plan Timeline

August 2020: Collect all 8th grade student data from previous year state assessment.  Note student scores on data tracker.  Note scores below expectation.

September 2020: Assess all 8th grade students using a district-wide screening program.  Compare data from this assessment to previous years’ state assessment and note discrepancies.  Compare student scores in pilot math classroom to student scores in traditional teacher-led classroom to note discrepancies.

September 2020:  Send Google form pre-survey home to parent and give to students to assess student and parent views of math education.

September 2020 – May 2021: Implementation of action plan.  Implement blended learning plan (“Flipped learning”) in pilot 8th grade math classrooms.
  1. Create video to post in Google classroom to explain math concepts.  Questions will be embedded in videos to enhance learning, assess understanding, give instructions during video and drive classroom conversations (Lim & Wilson, 2019)
  2. Quiz and assess students during units to gauge understanding.
  3. Students will take assessments after unit to show mastery.  Compare scores from pilot classroom to traditional teacher-led classroom.
  4. Document and track student assessment scores.
  5. Evaluate blended learning lesson and make changes as necessary.

December 2020:  Send Google form mid-survey home to parent and give to students to assess changes in views toward math. Compare data to pre-survey results and take note of changes and/or suggestions
Mid-Year Assessment for all 8th grade students using a district-wide screening program.  Compare data from this assessment to other data and note discrepancies.  Compare student scores in pilot math classroom to student scores in traditional teacher-led classroom to note discrepancies.

February 2021:  Students will take state assessment benchmark test.  Compare student scores to other collected data in data tracker.

April 2021:  Students will take the state assessment.

May 2021:  Compare student scores from state assessment to previous year’s assessment to check for growth.  Compare student scores from the blended learning pilot classroom to assessments from traditional teacher-led classroom.

May 2021: Send home Google form post-survey to parent and give to students to assess final views and attitudes toward math.
End of Year Assessment for all 8th grade students using a district-wide screening program.  Compare data from this assessment to other data and note discrepancies.  Compare student scores in pilot math classroom to student scores in traditional teacher-led classroom to note discrepancies.

June 2021:  Disseminate data.  Share data with campus administration and discuss outcomes, observances, patterns and other results.  The results will be shared with the other 8th grade math teacher.  Administration will make decisions about how to continue with the blended learning plan.
