Disciplines
#1 Focus on the WIG (Wildly Important Goal)
It is called a “Wildly Important Goal” because it is a goal that will make a big difference. Instead of looking at several goals, pick one or two. “If you are currently trying to execute five, ten, or even twenty important goals, the truth is that your team can’t focus” (Covey, 2019, pg. 11). Trying to do it all tends to lead to nothing accomplished at all. As a group, we will need to decide on a WIG that we all feel is important. Brainstorming ideas, we should focus on our teams’ strengths, weaknesses and areas we would like to improve. Ideas will be ranked in the order we fill they would make the most impact.
An example of a WIG might be: All 7th grade math teachers will implement blended learning lessons in their classrooms at least once a week by the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

#2 Act on Lead Measures
After we have identified a WIG, we will need to identify ways to measure our progress. These measures need to help us achieve our goal and must be something we can influence.
An example:
An example:
- Each teacher will develop and teach one curriculum based blended learning lesson per week for the first semester, put a copy of the lesson in the shared Google drive and share results at our weekly meetings.
- Each six weeks teachers will find and become an “expert” in a new technology to use in the classroom by reading the weekly Technology newsletters, attend a technology training or research and share those ideas at our weekly meetings.
#3 Scoreboard
It is important to track any goal. Teachers hold students accountable with grades and tracking charts, weight loss programs hold members accountable with charts and diagrams, and doctors chart children growth and weight levels, to just name a few. After deciding on a WIG and Lag measures, it is important to create a way to track those measures. It is vital our group develops a scoreboard that we are invested in.

#4 Accountability
During one of our Academic PLC meetings, we will discuss our progress toward or WIG. We will discuss our accomplishments, struggles, successes and how we plan to continue toward our WIG. If order for our group to be successful, we must hold each other accountable.
Influencer vs The 4 Disciplines of Execution
The Influencer and The 4 Disciplines of Execution can be blended to create an excellent plan of execution of my Innovation Plan. The Influencer focuses more on behaviors. I feel that it is behaviors that a group leader would influence. The 4 Disciplines of Execution focuses on goals. I feel that these are behaviors that would be taken on by the group. A combination of these two plans would insure that leaders are driving the team in the right direction while the team is focused on their progress.
