Call to Action

Why?

The dreaded math class!!  It is the place where students “sit and get,” then go home to work problems on worksheets and realize that they really didn’t “get.”  I am one of the teachers that droned on all day, sent home worksheet after worksheet, and could not understand why students were not turning in work.  Didn’t they care about their grade?  They did care, but they were lost.  I was exhausted, my students were frustrated, and not much student growth was occurring.  My job is to help students and I was not being faithful to my philosophy or learning manifesto.
I began to search for a way to help my students be successful.  After much research and my literature review, I discovered blended learning with stations.  Blended learning incorporates technology providing options for personalizing education for every student (Horn & Staker, 2013).  Blended learning also provides students with more opportunies to master a subject (Bersin, 2004)
